Digital Storytelling Presentation: The Bear and the Maiden Fair
November 29, 2019
For my INLS 161 – Tools for Information Literacy course, I created a narrated Powerpoint presentation with music and animations. I selected the topic “Digital Storytelling,” primarily because I enjoy speaking in silly voices. Were I to complete this project again, I would make sure to use entirely original content, including the music and images. Due to the time constraints of being a full-time student, I used stock images from Canva.com and public domain music from Anchor, a podcasting app. You can view the video’s description on YouTube for more information and for detailed attributions.

Design Thinking Presentation
December 04, 2019
This is a presentation I completed for INLS 534 – Youth and Technology in Libraries. I conducted research on design thinking and crafted a presentation for library staff who serve youth. In my practice as a librarian, I find the design thinking approach to be a helpful way to craft learner-centered and relevant programming. I attended design thinking seminars while working as a library aid at Charlotte Mecklenburg Library and have used the process many times in developing instruction. Not only is design thinking a great way to generate a ton of practical ideas, its also a fun way to collaborate with students and coworkers. I hope that this presentation showcases the joy of this approach!
